Miracle Party 2009

Did you know that cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease for children. An estimated 46 children will be diagnosed with cancer today!!! WOW huh, that is a lot. Did you also know that funding for pediatric cancer research has the 2nd lowest funding in the US? Pretty sad huh? I was fortunate to be a part of Miracle Party 2009. This is a party designed to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer. This party was started by a mother who's daughter was diagnoised with bone cancer. Through her daughters treatment she realized and saw how little was being done and wanted to help. This night was dedicated to all the children, whose battle had just begun, those in remission, the many who have relapsed, and to pay a tribute to all our "cancer angels". All of these children are brave hero's.

I have come to know so many and have fallen in love with each and every one of them. Unfortunately, I have also had to attend several funerals for these kiddos. They are forever in our hearts......

Here are some pictures of some of the kids at the party. Because the kids are hero's they were encouraged to come dressed like a super hero. Enjoy the pictures.

"Children with cancer are like candles who accept the possibility that they are in danger of being extinguished by a gust of wind from nowhere; and yet, as they flicker and dance to remain alive, their brilliance challenges the darkness and dazzle those of us who watch their light. " unknown author
Seeing the kids dance the night away, with smiles under their masks or permanently on their face. I agree whole heartedly with this quote.

I am an AUNT

I am so happy to say that my brother and sister in law have finally had their little one.
9/8/09 at 11:57 my new nephew came into this world.

Rowen Heath Hamilton weighing 8 lb 15.6 oz and was 21 3/4 inches long. A big boy he is.

Mom and baby are doing well. My brother is grinning from ear to ear. My niece is super excited, but wants him to be able to play....

I will post pictures soon....
